Spiritual traditions have been deeply suspicious of the body and of pleasure, and suggest we must dominate and control them. Those assumptions show up in Unity language too. Myrtle Fillmore’s own teachings offer a powerful alternative: a spirituality that treats the body not as a problem to control, but as a partner in healing and joy. Today, embodiment is one way we can be liberated from domination and control. Because when we return to our bodies—when we feel pleasure, connection, breath, movement—we remember to take up space as living expressions of Spirit.
