Janice Gillmore
Janice has been on a Spiritual Path for 42 years, while working as a psychotherapist/healer for
34 years. Prior to this career she spent 7 years working professionally in Musical Theater in
Virginia and New York City. Janice has spent the last several years integrating her experiences on her Spiritual Path, along with her work in the mental health field and in theater, resulting in this presentation of “A Living Memoir,” stories and music. Janice is currently on the path to becoming an ordained Unity Minister.
Doug Schneider
Doug Schneider is a local actor/singer/director/vocal instructor. He has been in Charlottesville
for 37 years and has been part of many theatrical productions at Four County Players, Heritage
Theater Festival, Richmond Triangle Player, HATTheater and Live Arts. Most recently Doug was seen as Ebenezer Scrooge in Four County Players production of A Christmas Carol. He has a busy studio of vocal students and will next be performing in a new musical, FROM UP HERE at the HAT Theater in Richmond in March. For over 25 years Doug has sung many services here at Unity of Charlottesville and is delighted to join his friend and student, Janice, in her beautiful story of celebration and song. Ed Polich
With over 50 years in musical theatre, Ed has performed as a Club/Variety/Cabaret
entertainer, Tour Group Entertainer, and performer with the Norman Leyden Singers for
the Seattle and Portland Symphony Pops. His musical experience has been nothing
short of exhilarating allowing Ed to share his love for performance with diverse
audiences.
Ed now spends his time with his two-piece band “Squeeze Play RVA” providing musical
entertainment to Independent and Assisted Living Communities in the greater
Richmond area. Comprising of an accordion (Ed) and his musical partner, Paul on
mandola and classical guitar, Squeeze Play RVA specializes in delivering an eclectic
mix of melodies that resonate with audiences of all ages from the romantic serenades of
Italy to the timeless American classics, and from the bright lights of Broadway to the
lively beats of Polkas. Ed says that Squeeze Play RVA is not just a band; it’s a musical
time machine designed to transport listeners back to the cherished “Music of Their Life.”
Wells Hanley
Pianist Wells Hanley is above all things a collaborator. His unique and supportive musical approach spans multiple genres and has made him equally at home with jazz legends Wynton Marsalis and David Liebman; pop icon Dave Matthews; and Broadway stars Tom Wopat, Chuck Cooper, and Steven Lutvak.
Hanley’s nearly 30 years of meditative experience coupled with his interest in psychology and Jungian studies have informed his intentional use of music for healing and have inspired his gradual movement from the stage into more intimate one-on-one healing environments.
He marries his two passions of music and healing through private coaching sessions, collaborative songwriting, and public workshops such as “healing trauma through song” which was offered at the Psychology Networker National Convention in Washington, DC. A sought after teacher and creative coach.
Wells has taught at The New School in New York, the University of Virginia, and Virginia
Commonwealth University, where he currently leads classes on jazz piano and improvisation.
He is a core member and pianist in the meditative crossover duo Bodhiheart, and is creator and host of the podcast, I Wrote this Song for You, which pairs true stories with original music in a unique and intimate format.
Joe Sarver
Joe Sarver is an accomplished bassist and is one of the more in demand bass players on the local music scene in RVA. He has been playing the bass professionally since the age of 12. Largely a self-taught musician, he currently performs at two venues weekly in RVA – Sunday Brunch at Napa Kitchen & Wine Bar and Les Crepes. He has been a member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church (Glen Allen, VA) music ministry for more than twenty years.
Joe has spent the better part of his musical career working with many of the most notable musicians in the Central Virginia region as well as some with national and international prominence. Joe augmented his natural talent by studying formal music theory at VCU and also studied music privately with two symphonic bassists with the Richmond Symphony. He is a distinguished National Endowment for the Arts jazz music grant recipient. He has performed at a long list of notable performance venues in and around Richmond to include the Altria Theatre and VMFA.
Stuart Gunter
Stuart Gunter has been playing drums most of his life. He is a studio session drummer and plays drums for the band Chamomile & Whiskey. chamomileandwhiskey.com
