A Day in the Life of a Unity Minister by Rev. Don Lansky

Sometimes I wonder if folks think that all a Unity minister does is show up on Sundays looking glamorous, and then all they do the rest of the week is watch soap operas and eat bon bons. So I thought I’d give you a “behind the scenes” of a typical day in ministry from yesterday.

The day started at 8:00 a.m. with a Zoom conference call with the Charlottesville Clergy Collective. Then at 9:15, my daily 1 hour morning prayer and meditation. Then a prayer call with Rev. Patricia to one our our members who was having a health challenge. Then meeting with Rev. Patricia to create the lesson titles for the months of June and July. Then into the office to sign checks, respond to emails, record the weekly video email, review the weekly written email, and create a “thank you” letter for all the generous folks who donated to UOC in May. Then home to do my daily 1 hour evening meditation. Then a quick dinner, followed by the Wednesday evening “Prayer & Share” from 7:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Yes, ministry is a very full and busy life, even during a pandemic. But the reward of serving others is indescribable.
